Just like a real folk festival, but without all the sweaty people and the overpriced vegetarian food.

Bluegrass

Among the great bluegrass artists on Festival Radio, you'll hear:

Alison Krauss and Union Station: Great fiddler, a remarkable voice, hot band.

The Clumsy Lovers:  Indie group from Vancouver playing what they call "raging Celtic bluegrass rock" and what a reviewer called "speed metal hillbilly polka."  Whatever you call it, it's really fine.

Patty Loveless:  Her bluegrass album is really fine.

Claire Lynch: Fine bluegrass performer

Jake Armerding: Young bluegrass multi-instrumentalist.  Background includes a stint with Northern Lights.

Nickel Creek: Remarkably talented young bluegrass group

Northern Lights:  Great bluegrass group

The McKrells:  Indie Celtgrass band from upstate New York.  What's Celtgrass?  A mixture of Celtic and bluegrass, and these guys make it work.

Railroad Earth: Bluegrass jam band.

Rhonda Vincent: Mandolinist, fiddler, three-time bluegrass International Bluegrass Music Association Female Vocalist of the Year.

Salamander Crossing:  No longer in existence as a group, but they put out several fine albums in the 90s, with some unusual covers, including Bruce Springsteen and Bruce Cockburn.
