New Adds Festival Radio, 4/11/08

New adds since March 25, Festival Radio:

Artist – Album

  • Andrew Calhoun & Campground – Bound to Go
  • Capercaillie – Roses and Tears
  • Karan Casey – Ships in the Forest
  • Kris Delmhorst – Shotgun Singer
  • Paul Kelly – Stolen Apples
  • Tom May – Blue Roads, Red Wine
  • Hugh Morrison – Under a Texas Skye
  • Dana and Susan Robinson – ‘Round My Door
  • Sarah Sample – Never Close Enough
  • The Smokey Joe Show - Little Buildings

Notes: The Andrew Calhoun and Campground album is remarkable – a 30+ song collection of African-American spirituals with significant liner notes.  It truly presents the best of what folk music can be.

I’m also glad that Paul Kelly’s Stolen Apples is finally available in the US (I downloaded it from emusic.com), as Kelly remains one of my favorite songwriters.  If you’ve not been in on the Paul Kelly A to Z downloads , then you’re missing out on a prime opportunity to get great music free from a great artist.

It’s always a great treat when Capercaillie releases a new album, as there will be no question that it will be technically superior and innovative.

The Kris Delmhorst CD strikes me as being seriously overproduced.  I’d like to think there are some very fine songs on this album, but it’s hard to tell because they are drowning in the fuzzy, gimmicky production.
