It’s the number after one: the number that one does not count unless proceeding directly to three. It’s also the number of trick or treaters at the Online Folk Festival world headquarters last night. It was our first Halloween in our new condominium, and I figured that lots of kids would come through the community - we’re reasonably close to a single-family neighborhood, and an enterprising trick or treater could hit the entire community in a relatively short period of time without doing much walking. I’d lived in an apartment with an interior corridor and locked doors for the last ten years, so I haven’t given out any candy in a long time.
We went out the night before to Marc’s and got three bags of suckers. We stopped at my wife’s parents’ home because the Trick or Treat bowl with the hand sticking up through it was still there. We slogged through ridiculous traffic, got home later than we wanted and bolted some pizza to be ready in time. And then — a whole lot of nothing but leftover Halloween candy. Next year, one bag of suckers will probably be enough. Especially since I’m diabetic.

Hi, Greg,
I had sent you a comment earlier but wanted to make sure you got it. We have a houseconcert series in our home in Charm, which is north of you. We’ll be hosting Jake Armerding on November 18th, and I wanted to invite you to come as well as ask if you could give us some exposure. I’d like to see Jake take away a nice bit of change when he plays, plus get some new fans here. I saw your earlier post about Jake as well as your comment on his myspace, so I thought I’d give you a heads up. More details at http://www.sproutedacorn.blogspot.com. Hope to see you there!
