Florida Folkie Steve Blackwell Dies

September 5th, 2006 · 1 Comment

Steve Blackwell, folkie from the Punta Gorda, Florida area, has died of cancer. You can find an obituary here.

Steve sent me an album of his family’s folk band a couple years ago and it’s very good. My parents live in that part of Florida, and I had hoped to see him perform some time when I was down visiting them - unfortunately, that will not happen now.

Steve, Carrie and Dan often performed as a gospel trio called “Peace Creek Revival”. Their next project was to go into the studio and record a gospel CD. Unfortunately, first Dan, and then Steve, got sick, and they were never able to start the project. Dan often recorded their live performances, which were done around a single condensor mic. With the invaluable help of Ron Litschauer and Tiffiny Coffey, and the financial and spiritual help of Charlotte Harbor Trinity United Methodist Church, Dan was able to produce a CD of previously recorded live performances. And, luckily enough, Andy was playing bass on each song chosen for the CD. We’re so grateful that we can offer this CD to the public, and are thankful to Pastor Richard Dickey for his unwavering love and support.
If you’d like to order the CD, “Peace Creek Revival, Live” send an email to:

    God Bless you all!

    Love, Robin
